The idea for this large-scale survey originated from Finland, where Aalto Univeristy has been carrying out the Finnisch Software Industry Survey for more than ten years. For the German survey we cooperated with Aalto University and successfully carried out the survey in 2012 and again in 2013. In both years, the survey started in March/April, was closed in May/July, and reports were published in August/September.
